BAY AREA LIFE™ TV CELEBRATES TWO YEARS ON THE AIR; EXPANDS COVERAGE WITH "NEW VOICES"™,
"FRESH FACES"™ AND "REAL STORIES"™ SEGMENTS
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, February 8, 2003 ––– Bay Area Life™ television (KTSF-TV, Channel 26) celebrates two years of providing a unique broadcast media forum for emerging and established artists, authors, musicians, entrepreneurs, community leaders, film makers and celebrities. The first and only multicultural magazine format show on KTSF-TV, Bay Area Life also covers community events and services, alternative health and spirituality, tech innovations, lifestyle and financial trends and stories of personal triumph that showcase the Bay Area's diversity, expressiveness and richness. This year, Bay Area Life TV will expand its current interview and features format to include three new segments: New Voices,™ Fresh Faces™ and Real Stories™.
Ranging from an exploration of the Bay Area's large Afghan community after 9/11 (while reminding viewers of California's internment of Japanese-American families during World War II) to showcasing an Oakland evangelist who convinced an entrepreneur to purchase a rare cello for his use (which he then played for the Pope at the Vatican before an audience of over 300,000 people), Bay Area Life TV reflects the amazing, and often untold, stories of our community.
Executive producer and co-host Eileen Bartlett, born in Hawaii and raised in the Bay Area, is the daughter of a Finnish father and a Japanese mother. Founder of an award-winning dance troupe, her more recent work in video production has earned her a TELLY award for Bay Area Life TV (for production excellence and unique producer style) and a commission from PBS for a documentary on a little-known, but influential, jazz composer, which she is currently filming. Her eclectic background in business and the arts allows her to present a mix of topics in Bay Area Life TV programming that truly mirror the interests and accomplishments of Bay Areans.
According to Eileen Bartlett, co-host and executive producer of Bay Area Life TV, "Everyone has a story, but not everyone has a voice. Our mission is to give exposure to people with a passion for what they do and how they live their life. We've been delighted with the following our show has received in just a few years. My co-host, Greg Pennington and I, are looking forward to a new season of unique stories
and the expansion of our current magazine program format that will provide new insights for our viewers
and new opportunities for our sponsors. Since we have full control of our formats, we can provide more
– more –
in-depth coverage than other shows to go beyond the thirty-second sound bite. KTSF-TV was our choice for the ‘home' network for Bay Area Life TV because of their commitment to serving our diverse community. They believed in our vision from the beginning and continue to be a joy to work with."
KTSF's program manager, Victor Marino said, "We saw great potential in Bay Area Life television from the moment Eileen Bartlett brought her show concept to us. In addition to supporting emerging artists and musicians, Bay Area Life is an all-inclusive magazine format that constantly surprises us with their mix of human-interest stories and community coverage. KTSF-TV congratulates Bay Area Life TV on two successful years and wishes them many more. They add a unique perspective to our station's focus on multicultural programming."
Sponsored by local businesses and organizations, Bay Area Life TV is seen every Saturday morning at 1:00 a.m. on KTSF, Channel 26 on the extended Bay Area Cable Network, reaching over two-and-a-half million people in the SF/Bay Area.
